When I bred a pet in P3, I could place the files in my P5 game without any problem, right? So, when I do, is the file automatically P5-only? Or does it still work in P3 also.
I want to keep my crew in P5, but I like breeding etc in P3 more because more people in the PC own one of the older versions, too. So, I wanted to be sure, because otherwise I'll never be able to adopt out any of my old crew pets to people with older petz versions ¬¬
I'm not sure I'm posting in the right section :x Please, don't hang me if it isn't, ha *looks around nervously*
Anyway, thank you for helping me! ;D

Ubisoft tweaked the game so you can't go backwards, so to speak. Any pet loaded into P5 or bred in P5 has to be played with in P5, to keep its original file and such.
There is a way to covert back, but any mixed breed has to become a purebred, loses its pedigree and personality. Hexed first gen petz it isn't as much a problem with as it is with bred ones, or ones from mixed lineage. It's also against the PKC rules since the pet's .pet file has been modified. To do it, you have to take a donor dog and take the LNZ from the P5 dog and copy/paste them into the respective sections of the donor from an older version.
It's best to run breeding stock in P3/4 so everyone can adopt. Most of us veterans run P4 so we can adopt out to everyone, since petz in P4 can be put in P3, or P5

): That's too bad, because at the moment my crew in P5 is larger than in any of the older versions. Maybe I can try adopting them out anyways and don't keep the crew in this version. Since I mostly own bred petz, I don't think converting is the way for me. I think the loss of lineage and personality is bigger than the benefit of playing with the files in all versions.
Anyway, I will follow your advice and only breed in P4 from now on! It's more fun sharing my petz with everyone after all. Thanks for your help Haruka ^^
