Hey, I was just thinking about this when breeding some of my petz, and had to ask because I was just curious.
You see a lot of those petz with the HUGE heavy-duty linage with tons and tons of PC members in their lineage if you look at LNZ and their origin history, etc. Those huge lines must have taken so much time over the years to get to the point that they are, and it seems that 90% of the adoptions that you find... are heavy-duty, inbred, lots-of-past owners and practicly all the breeders' names in the PC you can imagine. (At least, many of the petz I've adopted)
My question was, when you guys breed, do you usually breed petz you've adopted from other people and some of those heavily inbred/family tree petz or do you guys start your own lines very often? I've noticed that when I start lines, I usually don't keep up with them very often, and breed petz from others before lines I've started my own simply because they turn out prettier, and therefor more adoptable. It doesn't seem like too many (aside form purebred, non-inbred lines and specific show petz they're working on in the ring) just breed different breeds together for fun & create their own lines entirely.
So I had to ask - who breeds their own lines anymore?
I was thinking about selective breeds that would be really cool, and possibly starting them, but I know breeding takes up so much time, so I figured I'd save that for once I'm done with a lot of the other projects I'd like to do eventually x3

I've tried to start lines of petz before but I just don't have the patience for the focus for something like that haha. Honestly, I don't really "breed" my petz anyway. If they fall in love, they just fall in love, you know? That's how I get most of my pups and kittens that I adopt out. One thing I do is that if I adopt a large group of petz at once, I bring out everyone with the help of Petz A and then over the course of a few days, I see who plays more/gets along better, and those end up being the ones who fall in love after I bring them out in the observed pairs. It's cute and they have adorable babies, so I can't say I don't like it haha <3

I have my own line of dalis, a group of non inbred and one of inbred. Inbred dogz seem to breed better pups in my opinion. I also have a line of tams, and non inbred tams. But my newest line is these super gorgeous labs XD They are my new treasure <3
EDIT; Lol, me and shimmer at the same time! But yeah it's difficult to keep up and I usually go on to things I've adopted frm other people. I mean they just seem to have nicer litters and more functioning personality's that dont get hacked up with the body shape >.> I hate unproportional things... hehe

I have tried to start my own lines with... not so much success lol
Usually when I breed I just use my own bred pets with ones I have adopted.

I tried one time to have inbred free dali's. But I just couldn't do it I have no patience and inbred dali's make better looking pups so better more adoptable dogs so I never really felt the need to have non inbreds.

Yah, I have a line of inbred free Dalis that I've only added a few other breeders to at high generations. But tbh, usually when I'm breeding I'm just looking for something interesting/unique and I seem to get that a lot more with older lines. Also, older lines tend to breed "truer" in my experience, so I get less frustrated.

I get bored quickly when I try to start my own lines, so I've learned not to do it. xD I mainly breed from very high-generation petz, most of them adopted from other players.

It depends for me. For mixies, I tend to adopt something that looks cool from other players and I quite frankly don't care about inbreeding. When trying to get a 'perfect' lab mix (blue 115 coat, blue 150 ish eyes, dali spots, scottie texture, mutt patches with full lab build), I bred siblings to try to encourage positive traits, just like r/l breeders did XD
Since no modern breed would be here without inbreeding to some extent, it doesn't bother me. Real life, since it does cause some health instabilities, I'd be a little hesitant to buy a dog who's parents were direct siblings but if the dog's healthy I wouldn't care
Now for hexed breeds, I'm pretty much on my own. I get some first gen hexies and the occasional pup from PKC Champion lines (just finished a Gen 3 kuvasz with BIS/WC pedigree from Salem @ SWSK) I'm hoping to breed into my own Frostmourne lines.

Thanks for all of your input, guys! :3
And gilda, the poodle/sheepie/mutt mixies that are all your lines sound really super cool, I'll have to look out for them! ^^

I've got a line of non-inbred Mutts that I was working on. But it's hard to keep going because I literally just have to keep starting over to add new blood and so it's been paused for now, haha.

I honestly usually don't have the patience for my own lines, but just recently I started a new attempt at just that. Hah, I don't know why I do this to myself, but it seems to be going better than the last time, at least.
I think I'd probably explode if I ever attempted a non-inbred or purebred line, though. .u.

Since I'm so new I had to start all over with my petz so I pretty much was forced to create my own line, lol. My selective breeding project is all my own line, and I got kind of obsessive about it so it took less time than it probably should have but I still put a lot of hours into it. I tried to keep them from being closely inbred and stuck with line breeding, but near the end I got lazy and there are some pups that are inbred. I finally got tired of looking at the same kind of dog and started a non-inbred Cali line. I'm on gen 5 and already growing impatient. Lol. I have been breeding like a mad woman lately, I think I need to learn how to hex or something and take a break.

I have a tendency to want to 'prove' my petz in the show ring, so I don't tend to breed much at all XD Most of my dogz are purebred gen 1 hexies, and I have a tendency to open LNZ Pro and hex myself a new dog, rather than breed XD With Windows 7 causing my to say !#@$%& at the screen a lot when puppies don't come out right, it's /way/ easier to hex a new gen 1, then to spend way too much time tweaking the individual breed files fur and color pattern areas to pass the desired markings X.x
I also have a tendency to only breed PKC Champion dogz who also have at least 50 pose ring points. I try to rotate my poses around in the show ring to 'prove' my dogz are quality, so I /hope/ that taking all the time I do helps my breeding programme, and that I can offer 'better' dogz.
I never had the patience for selective breeding. I had a project I wanted to do which were mutt-eared, mutt-patched, dali-spotted Great Danes. I ended up hexing it instead ; It was easier to make a Dane OW and breed with it for the desired traits, than to try to get them to pass in game.

Okay, so just a thought. For a lot of the adoptions that you see up, the non-purebred, typical pretty looking pet adoptions.. in theory, could most of what everyone adopts with those huge 100's of generations be related to each other in some way? I mean, most of mine or super high generations, so most of my crew, in some way or another, probably is related because I typically adopt from those who have tons of generations/inbred/losts of history with the different users/names. Dunno, just never looked at it that way 'til the other day. It's super cool to hear some of you from here have started your own lines, etc, though <3
