I was losing interest in Petz and I think I've found something to spark my interest so I wanted to share it on here since Petzrus is very open to realism and naturally playing with your petz. This dog was not naturally raised, however she's going to be naturally played with.
So about a year ago, for my birthday, my parents decided that it would be a good time to get a dog. They knew how much I wanted one (as if the shelves full of books and the posters didn't clue them in!) and they caved. You guys, seriously, I was beyond excited. But I didn't want to jinx it until I actually had the dog home with me because I didn't know what could happen along the way through the adoption process.
Anyway, long story short, I got my dream dog and I thought I'd share some of the photos of her life so far! ♥
This photo marks the best day of my life, without a doubt. I'm pretty sure that maybe having my own child would rank up there with it, but Molly is just amazing and I can't imagine not having her.
I still remember seeing the lineup of dogs (there were more, I just didn't get them all in the photo) as it was the monthly adoption drive at the Humane Society. You could read all of the information on their crates, so my parents and I were walking down the line and we had narrowed it down to Bruno and Molly.
Bruno was a bit older than Molly, but he apparently wasn't very good with either children or cats and Molly was good with children. At least, that's what the HS predicted. They described Molly with the word "energetic" and that's an understatement!
Anyway, the deciding factor was that Molly looked much more interested in me than Bruno did. She seemed overall more enthusiastic and I have never been so glad that somebody ignored me, haha. Or else I wouldn't have my Molly <3
The next photo I have is of Molly at the vet's...
Molly was getting her final round of puppy shots, and had to stay overnight to be monitored because Mini. Schnauzers are notorious for having reactions to vaccines.
After that visit, there was just occasional checkups for growth and health. So far there haven't been any problems, thankfully!
Oh, the first grooming session. It was a hectic blur of fur and scissors. I had the task of doing just a basic clip because she was young and we didn't want her fur to get matted.
Thankfully, she's a quick learner. I taught her to sit down and raise her paws so that I could clip the nails. Let me tell you, that made my life sooooo much easier!
She's pretty good with standing still for the clippers, and getting better every day! Brushing her is the easy part because I do it every day, so her fur isalways usually tangle-free.
Molly's first walk was delayed because I was super paranoid about the puppy shots so we went out earlier in the morning, when the neighbourhood was still pretty quiet. She seemed very calm, it took a few lessons for her to learn how to heel properly, but she's much better now. If she sees a squirrel, she does try to sniff it but she knows I get frustrated if she tries to pull me. Well, at least the muscles in my arms have built up, haha!
Next is a chart I made before Molly turned one and I added in the last picture on her birthday! :3
It's basically to make up for the lack of proper photos for more of the first year of her life.
It's hard to notice the change when you see her every single day, but when you put the photos of our stacking practice side-by-side, it's a HUGE difference!
She kept having problems aligning her head but, of course, on her birthday she aligns it properly! What a coincidence, heh!
I think the gangly puppy stages she went through were adorable and looking at this almost makes me want to cry ♥ It's fun to see how much she changes and how thick and full her final coat is. I love her little "forelock" as I call it, haha.
And the last photo I have right now is an agility meet we had this past weekend! It was Molly's first and though it was informal, we still had fun!
I am so proud of her! She's such an amazing dog and so easy to teach. She responds to treats and gentle commands, so if you get frustrated, you just have to walk away and calm down because she'll start getting irritated at you. It's such a rewarding experience to see her weave through poles and clear jumps! Especially the last jump! We had never tackled anything that high in the backyard but she was a trooper and cleared it!
Those are all of the photos I have so far! I have a few more but I haven't had the time to put them together in the scrapbook but it's mostly of Molly and the tricks we trained her to do. She knows how to lie down, roll over, slide and beg!
So I just wanted to introduce you guys to her! ♥
